Watch Out for Drunk Drivers on Super Bowl Sunday
Super Bowl Sunday is not only the biggest day of the year for football, but for parties in America. It is reported that more people attend events for the Super Bowl than they do for any other holiday. A large number of these parties and celebrations involve alcohol, which, while in and of itself is not a problem, becomes a problem when people get out on the roads when they are inebriated.
Drunk driving is a large problem in America. The National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration states that about 7% of all car accidents involve alcohol. Thousands of people are injured every year in
drunk driving accidents; many do not survive. It is important that you make plans for a sober driver, a cab, public transportation or simply stay overnight at the place of the party. Additionally, if you have to drive, you should be aware of areas with traditionally increased DUI accidents and arrests.
The area near the intersection of Cheyenne Avenue and Tenaya Way saw more than 140 DUI related accidents on Super Bowl Sunday last year. There were another 26 DUI arrests. Drive safely and avoid these unsafe areas!
