Officer fired following death in car chase
An officer accused of causing the death of a Las Vegas resident was fired following a year of court proceedings.
Two officers who were involved in a high-speed chase in 2010 were penalized for disobeying orders, which resulted in the wrongful death of the man they were chasing and attempting to stop for intoxicated driving.
The man who was killed was determined by the coroner to have an acute methamphetamine presence in his toxicology report. The two officers chased the man and allegedly attempted to stop his vehicle using a trained technique known as a "Precision Intervention Technique," which resulted in the man's car veering into other vehicles and crashing. The man was killed in the accident.
