Contaminated Halloween Candy
Halloween is a fun holiday for kids and families, as well as individuals of all ages. Children who go trick or treating door to door, however, may face unintended dangers if they are given candy that has been recalled due to contamination.
The FDA has announced recalls for certain types of Halloween candy. Included in the recalls are Mega Pops, a type of lollipop. The FDA recalled Mega Pops because of "foreign particles," although the makers of the candy, Colombina SA, have stated that the foreign particles do not pose a health risk. The Mega Pops are often sold in Family Dollar stores.
Another candy that has been recalled is Nestle's Raisinets in the fun size packages. The recall is for the 10oz bags of Raisinets, and is due to peanut contamination that is not stated on the bag. More and more children are developing severe peanut allergies, and it is increasingly important that all ingredients that may be in foods are declared.
Recalled candy should be returned to the store for a full refund.
