11 Million Defective Children's Toys Recalled
Fisher-Price, one of the largest makers of children's toys, has recalled more than 11 million defective products, including tricycles, high chairs, toy cars, and plastic balls. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the toys and high chairs, some of which have been sold for more than a decade, are causing injuries to the children who use them.
Some of the injuries included bleeding and bruising in children's genital areas because a fake key was badly placed near the seat of the tricycle.
The toy cars were recalled because they posed a potential threat as choking hazard, although there have been no reported incidents of children choking on them.
Another potential choking hazard was on inflatable balls. According to reports, the inflation valve could come off and easily become lodged in a child's throat if he or she put it in his or her mouth. There were 3 reported incidents of children choking on this part.
The high chairs had dangerous protrusions that, when fallen on, could cause bleeding and bruising.
