Toddler Dies After Falling from Box at Lakers Game
Sunday night's game between the Chicago Bulls and the Lakers ended tragically when a 2 year old boy fell from a third floor box onto the seats below. Lucas Anthony Tang was immediately taken to the hospital, where he later died.
The coroner has declared the death accidental, although it is unknown how the child actually fell. It is believed that the family did not notice him climbing on the guardrails because they were taking pictures. The guardrails for the box seats are at least 2 feet high, and are close to 3 1/2 feet high in some areas. This is the first incident of its kind at the Staples Center.
If it is discovered that the arena was not in compliance with codes and that was the reason for Tang's fall, then the family may choose to file a personal injury suit for wrongful death.
