SUV Strikes and Kills Man at Bus Stop
A Henderson local was waiting at the bus stop at the East Sunset and South Paradise intersection when he was hit by an SUV. The SUV driver, a 29 year old woman from California, had lost control of the vehicle because the roads were wet from a recent rain. When she lost control, the SUV ran up onto the curb and into a tree, striking the pedestrian on the way. The victim of the pedestrian accident was pronounced dead at Sunrise Hospital.
Shelena McNeill-Chew, the driver of the SUV, could face a personal injury suit from the victim's family if it is found that she was negligent while driving. Wrongful death claims are generally filed by the family of the deceased victim, and may pursue damages for funeral costs, medical costs, lost wages and lost benefits, pain and suffering and more. Auto accidents are among the top killers in the U.S., and it is important that your loved one receives some form of justice if he or she was killed because of someone else's reckless behavior.
