Rollover Crash Kills 1, Injures 6
An SUV rollover crash has resulted in the death of the 17 year old driver. The SUV accident occurred in North Las Vegas in the desert, near Moccasin Road and Durango Drive. Six others in the vehicle were injured.
There were eight people in the 1990 GMC altogether. One 15 year old was uninjured. Of the six with serious injuries who required hospitalization, all but one have been released. The one who is still hospitalized is 22 year old Douglas Silber. He was in critical condition as of last Friday. Most of the teens and young adults in the vehicle are from Las Vegas, although one is from Utah.
Police investigations have found beer cases near where the car was. They are investigating whether it was a drunk driving accident. Witnesses say that they saw the car speeding in the desert and then saw it flip. A few of the passengers were ejected, which indicates that they were not wearing safety belts. A cause of the accident has not yet been determined.
