Elderly Woman Has Heart Attack When Dog Attacked by Pit Bull
67 year old Vie Lee Walter was walking her Shih Tzu, Harley, around the neighborhood when Harley was attacked by a neighbor's pit bull.
Harley was attacked before Walter could do anything about it. She was eventually able to grab her dog and shield him from the pit bull. Harley suffered several bite wounds and lacerations, but his owner was far more affected by the dog attack. Walter suffered a minor heart attack because of the stress. She and her dog were saved by a neighbor who heard her cries; the neighbor hit the pit bull on the rear until it ran away.
Walter was taken to Centennial Hills Hospital, where she underwent an angioplasty. She is expected to recover well. Harley was taken to Craig Road Animal Hospital and he is also recovering well.
The owner of the pit bull is apologetic but insisting that his dog is not generally dangerous. He has offered to pay part of the veterinary bills, but none of the hospital bills.
