Disabled Man in Wheelchair Hit by Garbage Truck

When most people think of pedestrian accidents and truck accidents, they do not think about a pedestrian in a wheelchair and a garbage truck, but that is exactly what occurred this morning.

A disabled man, whose name and age have not been released, was hit by a garbage truck run by Republic Services. He was crossing through a parking lot in his wheelchair when the truck backed into him. The accident occurred near Eastern Avenue and Bonanza Road.

The victim was taken to University Medical Center, where he was treated for minor injuries. He is expected to recover well.

No criminal charges have been filed, but it is not yet known whether the victim will decide to file a personal injury suit against the negligent driver who was responsible for the truck accident.
