5 Killed in Car's Collision with Motorcycle Group
Police are still searching for a gold Honda Civic who caused a multi-vehicle crash in the desert near San Diego. The driver of the Civic attempted to pass a group of motorcycle riders and, in the process, almost ran into a white Dodge going in the opposite direction. The Dodge was forced to swerve to avoid an accident and then overcorrected and ran into the oncoming motorcycles. At least 5 were killed, including the passenger in the Dodge.
Hours after the motorcycle accident, police noticed that the driver of the Dodge may have been driving under the influence. Carlos Ramirez Bobadilla, 36, has been charged with a misdemeanor but not with vehicular manslaughter. His blood test results are pending. Police believe that the driver of the Dodge has the most liability in the accident, as he was estimated to be driving around 95 mph when he passed them. Also, if found he will be charged with hit and run because he did not stop when the accident occurred. Similarly, if found, evidence from the criminal case may be used to support a personal injury claim.
