DUI Supect Hits Police Car

Around 1:00 a.m. last night, a Metro Police Officer was sitting in his car at a red light when it was suddenly hit by another car. The other car rear ended the officer's vehicle at the Boulder Highway and Interstate 515 crossing. The driver of the other car, who was not injured in the wreck, was arrested for DUI and is being held at the Clark County Detention Center.
DUI charges can result in large fines, mandatory alcohol classes, and even jail time. The driver may have to pay personal injury damages to the officer.
In car accidents such as these, the victim often suffers whiplash and bruising, and occasionally some broken bones. The police officer was hospitalized, although thankfully he did not appear to sustain serious injuries, as is common with wrecks involving DUI. There was certainly property damage to the cop car, however.
