Rolaids Softchews Recall Is Expanded
Johnson & Johnson, the company that owns and manufactures Rolaids, has expanded its recall of the antacid medicine to include all package sizes and flavors. While many recent recalls have been due to bacterial contamination, the Rolaids were recalled because many consumers have been finding small pieces of metal and wood in the softchews.
This is far from the first product defect and contamination incident with Johnson & Johnson. The particular division that runs Rolaids has had many quality issues in the past as well, though the company is blaming a contract manufacturer for the defect. Earlier this month, the cherry Rolaids softchews were recalled because their sugar had crystallized. Johnson & Johnson also owns Tylenol, which underwent a major recall earlier this year.
The company is now under investigation for their quality control procedures.
