Another Gulf Oil Rig Explosion Injures 3 Workers
Three oil rig workers have been injured in an explosion off the coast of New Orleans. The explosion was reported around 10:15 a.m. CT. The U.S. Coast Guard is alerted in these situations. Although the oil drilling industry is inherently dangerous, if it is found that the explosion was the result of any regulation violations, the company could be sued by the injured workers for damages.
Of the three injured men, two are said to be very badly burned. Burns can cause paralysis, scarring and disfigurement, infection and many other complications. Often, the pain and suffering of the recovery is tremendous. Burns are also somewhat unique in that they leave terrible scars that can severely damage a victim's social interactions.
The oil rig is located about 20 miles off the coast of New Orleans in an area known as Bayou Perot. It has not been reported whether the explosion has seriously damaged the local ecology as the previous explosion did.
