Billie Jean James went missing on April 22, just before she and her husband were supposed to leave for a Hawaiian vacation. James had just recovered from a mini-stroke that she suffered in November. It was thought that possibly she wandered from home and was injured or became lost. Four months later, after a $10,000 reward was offered and extensive searching by both family and police, her body was found in her own home.
67 year old James and her husband were likely hoarders, as it was impossible to find her body through all of the clutter in their home. According to a Metro spokesperson, it was a huge factor in the investigation. Her husband found her body in a back room while he was attempting to clean it.
The James had been married for 40 years. Although Metro is investigating, they do not believe her husband is a suspect in the case.
