Model Learns to Walk Again after Suffering Serious Injuries
A young woman who once had high hopes of becoming a model is celebrating a different kind of victory. After being struck by airplane propellers, the 23-year-old is learning how to walk again.
The young woman had gone to see Christmas lights with her friend via airplane last week when the accident happened. She walked into the propeller of a nearby plane, the blades of which sliced open her face and cut her cranial nerve. Her left hand was also severed in the process. Since then the young woman has been fighting to regain just a semblance of her past life.
With the help of a physical therapy team, the young woman spoke for the first time last week. A few days later, she took 30 steps on her own before becoming fatigued. While the former model is expected to be able to walk and speak normally after several more weeks of therapy, she will have lost her left hand forever and her face will be scarred for life.
